Data Driven Design & Build: Showcase and Conference
Tuesday, 23 February from 1pm, join us online to see demos from DRIVA members' work including a lightweight digital twin, generative audio/data sonification, application of haptics, a location-data based audio platform and much more.
Digital Research and Innovation Value Accelerator (DRIVA arts DRIVA) was a £1.3m big data project funded by the European Structural Innovation Fund and Arts Council England in partnership with Gatwick Airport
The project aimed to support small businesses to develop innovative ‘Next Gen’ products, services and experiences that released value from Gatwick’s proprietorial data lake.
We supported creatives, technologists and entrepreneurs to collaborate, gain new skills, access a bespoke live data feed out of the working airport and bid for funds to make new work, “Superfused Awards”. We aimed for the awardees work to demonstrate the value of ‘superfusion’, the convergence of creativity, technology and commerciality needed for successful innovation with data.
Here, makers share their making; unpacking demos, prototypes, methods, opportunities and risks when working with live data to create all sorts of outcomes, from generative artworks and soundscapes to haptics, AR and VR product innovations to high end airport resilience modelling; simultaneously unblocking a bottle neck in the digital economy and developing our collective understanding of what it takes to release value from data.
